first_imgHome Indiana Agriculture News Task Force Wants Antibiotic Resistance Solutions Task Force Wants Antibiotic Resistance Solutions By Andy Eubank – Nov 12, 2015 SHARE SHARE A report on the growing problem of antibiotic resistance in animal agriculture spotlights the need to make finding solutions a top priority.  The 14-member Task Force on Antibiotic Resistance in Production Agriculture is composed of agricultural educators, industry leaders, and animal health specialists. The report recommends creating a centralized organization to coordinate public and private efforts to curb resistance.  The Center for Disease Control said antibiotic-resistant bacteria cause at least two million human illnesses and 23,000 deaths a year. The financial cost is near $20 billion a year in direct health care costs.
